Chianti red wine with a versatile taste
At 75%, Sangiovese red is the number one grape variety in Chianti. The remainder is made up of 15% Canaiolo and 10% other grape varieties, such as Malvasia and Trebbiano. So what does a typical Chianti wine taste like?
- Fruity notes of cherry, blackberry or prune, elegant acidity and pleasantly hairy tannins are the basic description of a Chianti wine.
- Depending on the terroir, the percentage of grape blend and the use of different spice aromas such as coffee, leather or tobacco vary in this Italian red wine.
